We have been very excited to see everyone back at Hollies after the summer holidays and would like to extend a great big welcome to all our new children, parents and staff who have joined us in both Pre-School and Breakfast/Afterschool Club.
The children have all settled in so well and we have heard some great stories about everyone's holiday adventures they have been on.
We have been very busy over the last few weeks helping the children to settle and getting to know them. The children who were already here have been great helpers, welcoming everyone with a smile and helping them get used to our routines.
The children in breakfast and afterschool club have been exploring the toys and have been building some great creations.
The children have done really well when coming over from school and have sat down to enjoy their snack. We will have fruit, yogurt and then a big tray with a mixture of vegetables, crackers, cheese and something a bit more filling such as toast, crumpets, bagels, wraps etc. After snack it's play time, we have had some lovely play in our Three Bears Home Corner and lots of exploring outside. The sand and ride ons are always a hit. We have lots of activities available throughout the week for the children to join in with, last week Liz made Bunny masks with the children and they enjoyed colouring with Beth. We love getting out jigsaws and have got lots of toys in the cupboard for the children to use.
We also have the butterfly room to use which is just for the school children where they can go over and build with the lego, make bracelets with the beads and loom bands or just play some games.
Throughout the year we can also use the school field if the weather is nice and the children enjoy going out to play games.
We have had a great start to Pre-School aswell. We have had lots of smiles and lovely hugs in the morning when they arrive and the children have picked up the routine so well.
We start off the day with circle time, the children are split up into two groups (the older children go over to badger base and the younger ones stay in the main room) and we will sing the good morning song and share any news we have to tell. Then we have a play and we have loved exploring all the different toys, outside we have been playing with the sand making different shapes and patterns. The slide has been a favourite and all the ride ons. We have even had some special visits at the fence from the school children, those with big siblings have enjoyed some lovely hugs.
Inside we have been doing jigsaws, playdough, reading stories, playing with the fire house and so much more. During the morning we will have a rolling snack where the children can enjoy some fruit, breadsticks and a drink. After play and snack it is circle time again and we will sing some songs and listen to a story, have the children taught you any new songs yet? They are picking them up so fast.
Then it's everyone's favourite time of the day LUNCH!
We enjoy lots of playing again after lunch, we often change the toys over so the children have got something new and exciting again to play with. In the afternoon we will have another snack throughout play and then it's circle and for some children home time.
What a great start we have all had and we have got so much more fun to have!
